Dear Friend,
I'm determined to reclaim the state Senate. After watching Rodney Tom and the Republicans block the Reproductive Parity Act, the Dream Act, and funding for transit, it's clear we need new leadership in the Senate. That's why I chipped in $35 yesterday to Fuse's campaign to defend Sen. Nathan Schlicher and keep ALEC leader Jan Angel out of the Senate. Winning this race is the first step toward retaking the Senate in 2014, and it's going to take a huge grassroots push to win. More than 250 people – including me – have made a donation, and Fuse is less than $2,000 away from their new $8,000 goal. Will you join me in chipping in $5.00 right now to support Fuse's communications and organizing campaign to retake the Senate? Click below to add your support: Yes! I'll chip in $5.00 right now! You can also read the full email forwarded below for more details. Thanks for all that you do, Brett H, Fuse supporter ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Aaron Ostrom, Fuse Votes Date: Mon, Jul 15, 2013 at 10:41 AM Subject: Dethroning Rodney Tom To: Brett H.
Dear Friend,
Retaking the Senate from Rodney Tom's Republicans starts right now. Emergency room doctor and state Senator Nathan Schlicher is facing a tough special election this fall against far-right Rep. Jan Angel. Angel wouldn't be just another vote for Rodney Tom — she's a potential disaster headed for the Senate. Angel is the state chair of ALEC, the infamous right wing front group that turns bills sponsored by corporations into laws.1 As if that weren't enough, she co-sponsored a bill to ban all abortions,2 she opposed closing tax loopholes to fund education,3 and she even skipped part of special session in 2011 for a European cruise, all while taking her legislative salary.4 We're pulling out all the stops to defeat Angel so that we can retake the Senate in 2014. Our organizers are in the district recruiting volunteers and educating voters. Online, we're reaching thousands of people every day with ads and the Progressive Voters Guide. Primary ballots are mailed this Friday. We need to raise $5,000 to reach every voter in the 26th District. If we fail in this race, Rodney Tom's caucus will grow stronger and retaking the Senate will become much more difficult. Will you chip in $5.00 to support our campaign to retake the Senate? Click below to donate now: Yes! I'll chip in $5.00 right now! Six months of stubborn gridlock from a Senate dominated by the far-right showed the importance of every Senate seat. Rodney Tom and the Senate Republicans hold only a 25 to 24 conservative majority, yet they were able to block the Reproductive Parity Act, the Dream Act, funding for transit, and more. In our recent member survey, more than 64 percent of Fuse members said reclaiming the Senate should be our top priority, and that starts with defending Sen. Nathan Schlicher. We have an organizer working full time in the district recruiting volunteers and educating voters about Angel's far-right record. Online, we're running a cutting-edge social media and advertising campaign to spread the word about Angel. But our single most powerful tool is the Progressive Voters Guide, and it comes out on Thursday. We need to raise $5,000 to reach every voter in the 26th District we possibly can. Will you chip in $5.00 to support our campaign to retake the Senate? Click below to donate now: Yes! I'll chip in $5.00 right now! Thanks for all that you do, Aaron and the entire team at Fuse 1The American Legislative Exchange Council is a shadowy right-wing group. It enables corporate lobbyists to draft legislation directly for conservative legislators at the expense of workers, consumers, and families.
