American news media goes to war against China

This week, the American (and some British) news media sources figuratively declared war on China.  Below are stories printed within the last week containing references to alleging hacking from China or China's military upon American businesses. Most of these articles either:

(1) insinuate that China is our greatest network security threat  and/or
(2) declare that China is destroying our economy and people

The extent of the articles and their seemingly collaborative timing make it appear as American media assets are launching a propaganda war against China:

In regards to this, here's the GPT risk assessment white paper I want to read:

"American Coal as an export risk:  Probable export scenarios in the case of (economic) war or otherwise with China?"

China, whose official energy policy is to subsidize and support the development of Liquid Fluoride Thorium  Reactors ("LFTRs") [1,2,3] , reputedly is currently suffering stifling air quality in part because of over reliance on coal as an energy source.  What happens in 5, 10 or 20 years if China simply say: "We don't need your stinking coal?". What happens if they decide to say that to us now?
